We all want to enjoy a peaceful life within our community, but sometimes living close to others can lead to misunderstandings and tensions. Issues such as noise, fences, trees, pets, or parking can quickly escalate if they aren’t addressed early and calmly.
It’s important to know that the Parish Council cannot intervene in disputes between neighbours — particularly when these occur on private land. However, there are places you can turn to for advice and support.
Where to Find Help
If you’re facing difficulties with a neighbour, helpful guidance is available on the South Derbyshire District Council (SDDC) website: Anti-social behaviour | South Derbyshire District Council
Alternatively, you can call the SDDC team on 01283 595795 for further advice.
You may also wish to contact your District and/or County Councillors, who can sometimes provide additional direction or support.
Please note that SDDC will not intervene in personal neighbour disputes or family disagreements that are based on individual opinions or prejudices. These matters are best resolved through communication, mediation, or independent legal advice where appropriate.
