It's important to stay informed about changes that affect the lives of those around us.
Derbyshire County Council have recently notified us of plans to redesign how support is provided to adults across the county. Like many councils nationwide, Derbyshire is facing significant financial challenges and increased demand for both adult and children's services. These circumstances have led to a thorough review of services to ensure resources are directed to those who need them most.
Four key areas of adult care delivery will be impacted:
Re-design of Residential Care and Day Opportunities for Older People
Re-design of Day Opportunities and Short Breaks for People with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism
Derbyshire Healthy Homes Project
Transformation of Adult Social Care, Health, and Corporate Services through Discretionary Grant Funding
You can access detailed reports about these decisions on the Derbyshire County Council’s website here.
The council is now in a five-day period where these decisions can be formally challenged.
Once this period ends, work will begin to implement these changes. The aim is to continue enabling people across Derbyshire to live healthy, independent lives within their own homes and communities.
The council has conformed with us that they remain committed to ongoing dialogue and a further public consultation will soon be held to discuss the revised plans for residential care and day opportunities for older people.
